“Ancient Medicine’s Miracle Cure!”
Vegans and vegetarians please stop here because the following may upset you . . . chuckle chuckle . . . but it’s certainly worth the read . . . especially if you’re open minded.
Bone broth has been around since the ancient Greeks arguably discovered it in the first century BC, and it has been known as a healing food and appreciated for its high nutritional value ever since.
I remember in the 2nd or 3rd year of college our Chinese lecturer on Traditional Chinese Medicine in Dietetics meticulously went through the importance of using bone broth especially from chickens when in debilitating health to enhance a persons inner energy or qi. (Qi can be interpreted as the “life energy” or “life force,”)

Your grandma knew it, your mum knew it, and the chances are you’ll be making it too!
It is generally made by boiling bones and cartilage, possibly a little meat.
Bone broths are simmered for a long period of time (at least 24 hours, sometimes longer) on the stove.
Bone marrow, the substance in the centre of larger bones, is an essential part of the immune system, and contains all kinds of cells necessary for immune function and bone growth, and it is rich in unsaturated fats which may lower cholesterol.
Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a conclusive nutritional analysis of it yet.
Many traditional cultures viewed it as a sacred food for fertility nutrition. [1a]
What Gives Bone Broth its Healing Properties?
Bone broth is dense with a variety of minerals, gelatin, collagen and proteins in the form of amino acids.
It’s known to heal the skin, gut, GI tract, aid in digestion and help you beat that cold/flu you’ve been suffering from.
It’s no coincidence from Ancient Medicine it’s known as a miracle cure when we are feeling under the weather.
- Minerals- such as calcium,

Consider only bones from organic animals for making bone broth, preferably grass-fed ones.
Non-organic animals are raised in an inhumane way in squalid, cramped conditions, and are fed antibiotics, hormones and genetically modified grain.

A bone broth fast means you consume bone broth several times per day but not much other solid food.
Most people do best fasting for a period between three to four days at a time.
The benefits of this type of fast include reducing cholesterol, normalizing blood sugar, weight loss and maintaining target weight, particularly in cases of obesity, for digestive problems such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and also lowering triglyceride levels.
